We offered two internship programs for our students who have sewn with us for a while. In all the years we have offered it, not one student was able to do the winter internship program. It was too hard with the responsibilities of other school activities, homework, and college applications. However, the summer internship program was a great start for many of our students who ended up becoming instructors. Here is what we offered:

love to sew studio student internship programLove to Sew Studio truly believes in the old saying, “experience is the best teacher.” With this in mind, we have developed two different unpaid internships for sewing and/or fashion enthusiasts in high school and college. Whether you just want to learn as much as you can about sewing, or you are heading that way in a career, you may want to consider our internship program.

In the Studio Winter Internship: Join our studio for a four-month internship.  You’ll guide and support students during studio time and assist instructors with office duties ranging from prepping the studio for class, working with patterns, handling and corresponding with instructors in the studio and outside industry reps for fashion shows and competitions. You are required to be in the studio for two hours of work each week for four months anytime during Sept. – May.

In the Studio Summer Internship: Join our studio during our busiest time of the year for a 3 week internship. You’ll guide and support students during our summer camps.  You will also assist in the studio for inventory, ordering, and judging of contests. You will also be handling up coming fashion show events. Interns are required to be in the studio for 3 weeks of sewing camps during the summer.

We had several requirements for the students to be considered. Some of them were; the student had to be at least 14 years of age, the student had to continue to take sewing classes, must have a passion for sewing, etc… We allowed our interns to help with making projects for the studio, arrange wall displays, judge at fashion shows and other sewing competitions, do research for new sewing classes and more.

Our internship program ended up being a big success for both the studio and the student. Many students added their internship to their college applications. Every student that did the internship program ended up becoming a paid sewing instructor at our studio, or a paid judge at our regional fashion show.
